Sidebar
From top to bottom the sidebar shows Chats, Pinned if you pinned something, In work, then your projects. To see everything in one list by time, pick By time under Sessions in the sidebar’s display menu. By project brings the projects back.
One row is one piece of work
- A session in the project’s folder is one row. What grew out of it, such as subagents, auto-reviews and side questions, sits under it behind the arrow on its left. A plain fork is a row of its own.
- A worktree is one row under its project, with all of its sessions under it. Click the row to open the session you last worked in there, or the arrow to see them all. See Worktree Sessions.
- An isolated space works the same way as a worktree.
What a row shows
The left side of a row shows what it is:
- a branch icon: a worktree
- the space icon: an isolated space
- nothing, or an arrow: a session in the project’s folder
The right side shows what’s happening: running, a new reply, or waiting for you. A coloured mark at the end is the pull request or issue the work follows.
Worktree names
A worktree row shows the task’s name, which the agent picks once the task is clear. Until then it shows the branch. Rename it yourself and your name stays. A session you move into a new worktree brings its task’s name along.
To read worktrees by branch, turn on Name worktrees by branch in the display menu. The branch becomes the row’s name, and the task’s name moves under it on detailed rows.
In work and Pinned
In work holds the work you haven’t finished; see Sessions in Work. A work there leaves its project, so turn on Also show in work under projects to keep it in both places. Pinned holds the sessions and worktrees you pinned from the row’s menu.
The display menu
- Sessions: by project or by time
- Sort projects: manual, A to Z, Z to A or newest
- Show chats section, Show pinned section, Show in work section
- Also show in work under projects
- Detailed rows: a second line with the branch or task name, the pull request or issue, and the project when the list mixes projects
- Name worktrees by branch
- Collapse all and Expand all
A long list ends in Show more. Show less folds it back.
On the phone
The list and the menu are the same. Rows take two lines unless you turn off Detailed rows, and you swipe a row to the side for its actions.
VS Code keeps the list it had before this layout.
